About Our School

The Master’s Way Christian Academy offers individualized private tuition that specially caters to the development of the whole child.

Who We Are

OUR GENESIS

The Master’s Way Christian Academy (TMWCA), formerly A Firm Foundation Primary School (AFFPEC), has its beginnings at the residence of its founder, Mrs. Roxanne C. George.   Acknowledging the need for her daughter, Gynelle, to work in a small group setting and being a qualified teacher herself, Mrs. George left her job to cater to the needs of her first daughter and other children like her.

The school opened in September of 2008 with only two students.  By the end of the second term, the student body grew to include multi-graded classes of Standards One & Two, Standards Three & Four students (Grades3-4 and 5-6) and First Year Infants (Grade 1).  The George’s home became a learning centre for a growing number of children.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

At eight years of age, my daughter did not like to go to school.  She was not at all interested in academic work.   She was not a dull child but even with her B average of 83%, she was not performing at her best.  Just the mention of Home Work brought a frown to her face and having to do any extra studies brought tears to her eyes.  Consequently, her grades declined.

My daughter sat in her class and hardly paid attention to what was being said or done.  She did not complete assignments and sometimes hid the books she needed to study from.

Obviously, I became very concerned about my daughter’s attitude towards her studies as well as her self-esteem and behaviours associated with an unhealthy level of self-value.

Being a qualified teacher, in September of 2008, I began to home-school my daughter, along with a small group of children.  There was significant improvement in her school work as well as her general attitude.

Apart from academics, the children receive instruction in Music, Spanish, Sign Language, Computer Studies, Art, Drama, Dance and Physical Education.  Field trips and Swimming are also part of the program.  Therefore, the children are not disadvantaged in any way.  A school uniform is worn so as to help create a school-like atmosphere.

Upon sitting the Secondary Entrance Assessment,  Gynelle progressed to Bishop Anstey High School East.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

Each day begins with prayer, praise and Christian Education (C. E.).   The scriptures are not just presented as Bible stories but are made relevant to the children’s daily lives.  The children memorize scriptures which will offer them encouragement and guidance in difficult times.  They learn to trust in God and His Word. They understand that God is never too busy to hear their prayers as He Himself said to suffer (allow) little children to come to Him.

Praise and Worship

Health and Family Life Education (H.F.L.E.) as well as Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) are incorporated into the Bible Study.  The children are encouraged to make healthy choices so as to improve their everyday lives.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Learning about God and what He has to say concerning them, help the children to become more confident in what they are able to do.  They are therefore more inclined to accept who they are rather than try to be like someone else.  They feel free to try new things and share their gifts and talents with others without fear of ridicule.  They understand that others will at times have opinions that are different from their own but that doesn’t necessarily mean that their own points of view are wrong.

Our co-curricular activities give the children opportunities to open up and to free their minds.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

As the children’s confidence increase, asking questions, sharing their opinions, speaking in front of an audience, etc. become less challenging.
Making oral presentations and being involved in debates, as well as drama, poetry and choral speaking sessions provide opportunities
for the children to develop their public speaking skills and help them to realize that they are not too young to assume leadership roles.

Children also learn to care for themselves, for each other and for their environment.
